Tackling isolation for residents in sheltered housing
April 2012 – April 2013
This project, working with elderly residents in sheltered housing in York, involved the development of an art based newspaper
This bespoke communication vehicle in a very unusual format was created through a conversations with residents. The result was a newspaper about the people it was read by.
The newspaper aimed to improve the quality of life for this group of older people. It was a fun and innovative way of creating a new social network as well as an antidote to the isolation often experienced by residents in sheltered housing.
The twelve month pilot project will inform the roll out of this idea to the many other residents living in similar circumstances who could benefit.
